The vacation Bench of the Supreme Court was hearing a case instituted against the Jabalpur Bar Association, which has apparently passed a resolution barring the advocates from representing the Petition in question.
While hearing the case, Justice Abdul Nazeer stated that…if such a resolution has been passed, it will be withdrawn by the Jabalpur Bar Association.
The Supreme Court has now sought report from the Bar Council of India in the matter(Jabalpur Bar Association Resolution).
Here it would be relevant to mention right to legal representation in criminal cases or in cases where the accused has been arrested is also a constitutional mandate under Article 22(1) of the Constitution of India.
