Yesterday, Advocate Mathew Nedumpara made an oral plea for listing of Sabarimala petitions, the bench of CJI Ranjan Gogoi and Sanjay Kishan Kaul said that the date of hearing will be announced today. “We know there are 19 review petitions pending. By tomorrow we will decide when to list the matters”, the CJI said on Monday.
The 19 review petitions rely heavily on the dissenting judgment of Justice Indu Malhotra to contend that court should not enter into religious faith. The review petitions also state that the Court erred in in entertaining the PIL without examining the locus standi of the petitioner.
A five-judge constitution bench by a ratio of 4:1 had held that women of all age groups should be allowed entry in Kerala’s Sabarimala Temple.
