CBI vs CBI : Delhi High Court Orders Status Quo
CBI Special Director Rakesh Asthana has moved the Delhi High Court seeking the quashing of an FIR filed against him by the CBI. Asthana has also prayed that no coercive steps be taken against him by the CBI.
Delhi High Court has given him temporary relief by ordering that status quo should be maintained until the next Monday (29th October) . However court clarified that there will be no stay of ongoing probe in the matter and issued notice to CBI and Alok Verma, the CBI Director.

The matter was heard before Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice V Kameswar Rao in chamber. The matter is likely to be heard post lunch today.
The charges against Asthana in the FIR relate to his acceptance of a bribe of Rs. 3 crore by one Sathish Sana, who was involved in the Moin Qureshi case.
Devender Kumar was the investigating officer in a case relating to Moin Qureshi, a meat trader from Hyderabad. In this case, Asthana was accused of having accepted a bribe from Qureshi.
Senior Advocate Amarendra Sharan, appearing for Asthana, argued that the FIR was registered with “mala-fides”.
Next hearing on 29th October.
